January 2026 winter response
In its February 12 organizational letter, SWRF described supporting rural Tennessee and Mississippi after Winter Storm Fern. The letter said many residents were still facing subzero temperatures, interrupted water or power, and difficult access to resources. It listed medical first-response logistics, food and water distribution, life-sustaining supplies, and debris-removal support.
Working by invitation
The letter identified invitations from Nashville VOAD and Yalobusha County, Mississippi emergency management and the sheriff’s department. A separate winter mission overview described coordination with Tennessee VOAD and Mississippi emergency management on facilities for supply staging and distribution.
Supplies and accountability
The overview named heating fuel, emergency heaters, food, cold-weather gear, lighting, and operational support as priority uses of contributions. It described internal tracking of expenditures, donations, and higher-value items such as heaters and emergency lighting. The overview set out a distribution plan; it was not a final delivery or spending report.
